GBSN news release / Pack Network / WNEgoldenbears.tv

The Golden Bear Sports Network (GBSN), presented by the Western New England University Office of Alumni Relations and WNE Alumni Association, delivers rich, live streaming video content of 100 (home) games spanning 14 Western New England sports for the 2013-14 academic year. GBSN made its debut on WNEGoldenBears.tv on Aug. 31 with a men's soccer first-round game in the Soccer City Shootout, and was officially announced this fall.

WNEGoldenBears.tv is powered by the Boston-based Pack Network, a company that specializes in live high-definition TV and webcast productions, as well as graphic print design, web design, multimedia consulting and post-production video projects. Some of the clients include World Team Tennis, NCAA Division I conferences and numerous institutions on the NCAA I-II-III levels.

In the future, WNE Athletics hopes to webcast multiple events at the same time, expand graphic features and have audio commentary to call the play-by-play and provide color analysis of games.

What They're Saying:

"This marks the first comprehensive webcasting schedule plan in the history of our department, and we couldn't be more excited to bring this service to the University's stakeholders that include the campus community, alumni, parents, student-athletes, donors and the news media. Our Athletics Communication Office is always looking for new features to enhance our outreach, and this venture will assist in our recruiting efforts."--WNE Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Theulen.

"We are excited to partner with Western New England University to launch the Golden Bear Sports Network. The network will be a great new way for fans, parents, alumni and supporters to follow the WNE teams, watching events live on their computers and mobile devices."--Pack Network co-founder Adam Polgreen.

"The Alumni Association is very proud to be able to help support the Athletics Department on this very exciting project. The live streaming video for Athletics means that the families of our students, alumni, and students can follow the Golden Bears action online."--Mathew Nelson, President of the WNE Alumni Association.

"Over the past seven years the Alumni Grants program has awarded over $240,000 in grants. Funding received from the Liberty Mutual Insurance program plays a key role in our ability to offer these grants to student groups and many programs at Western New England University, such as Athletics.--Kathy Pappas, WNE Director of Alumni Relations.
