Josh Henry Named NEFC Offensive Rookie of the Week

Wilbraham, Mass. native caught four passes for 94 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 55-7 win over Westfield State

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 12, 2016) – Freshman tight end Josh Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.) of the Western New England University football team has been named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Rookie of the Week following his impressive collegiate debut in Saturday's 55-7 victory over Westfield State.

Henry was Western New England's leading receiver, catching four passes for a game-high 94 yards and one touchdown against the Owls. His 60-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter gave the Golden Bears a 35-0 lead as they captured the President's Cup for the third consecutive season and evened the all-time series with Westfield State at 14-14.

Also earning recognition from the NEFC was junior quarterback Anthony Service (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), who landed on the Offensive Weekly Honor roll for the second consecutive week. Service finished with 277 yards of total offense after completing 13-of-20 pass attempts for 214 yards with three touchdowns to go with a game-high 63 yards on the ground.

Western New England (2-0) wraps up its non-conference schedule next Saturday at Union.
