Eleven Golden Bears Receive Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 11, 2018) – Eleven members of the Western New England University softball team have been named 2017-18 All-America Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (NFCA), the organization announced last week.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 12, 2018) – Western New England University Director of Athletics Matthew LaBranche announced on Thursday that Amanda Novak has been appointed to the position of head softball coach. Novak, who has served as an assistant coach for the last seven years, takes over for Lori Mayhew-Wood, who led the program for 22 years before stepping down this summer to transition into a full-time administrative role.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 17, 2018) – Sophomore Aimee Kistner (Taunton, Mass.) of the Western New England University softball team has been selected as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England Region third team performer, the organization announced on Wednesday. 

Western New England defeated Husson 6-5 before falling to Amherst 7-2 on Sunday as the Golden Bears wrapped  up their season with a 25-18 record.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (May 13, 2018) – The Western New England University softball team wrapped up its 2018 campaign on Sunday at the NCAA Tournament regional at Cole Field on the campus of Williams College. The Golden Bears completed Saturday’s suspended contest with a 6-5, 11-inning victory over Husson, before falling to Amherst 7-2 in nine innings. 

Aimee Kistner was 3-for-3 with two RBI before Western New England's NCAA Tournament contest against Husson on Saturday was suspended due to darkness with the score tied 4-4 in the sixth inning.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (May 12, 2018) – The Western New England University softball team’s NCAA Tournament regional contest against Husson University on Saturday evening at Cole Field on the campus of Williams College was halted due to darkness with the score tied 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

(May 7, 2018) – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) champion Western New England University softball team will open the NCAA Tournament against No. 25 Amherst College when the double elimination regional round gets underway on Friday, May 11th at Cole Field on the campus of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.

(May 5, 2018) – The third-seeded Western New England University softball team used a five-run seventh inning rally to earn an 8-4 victory over top-seeded Endicott College and claim the program’s second Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship on Saturday afternoon at Endicott’s Softball Complex.

QUINCY, Mass. (April 28, 2018) – The third-seeded Western New England University softball team opened the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament with wins over seventh-seeded Nichols College and second-seeded Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday at Mitchell/McCoy Field. The Golden Bears defeated Nichols 3-1 in their first contest of the day, before knocking off the Lions 2-1 in the nightcap.

(April 24, 2018) – The Western New England University softball team earned a doubleheader split with crosstown rival Springfield College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Golden Bear Park. Springfield prevailed in the opener, 1-0, before Western New England bounced back with a 5-4 win in game two.
