Alexa Kimker Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

Western New England earns Academic Honor Squad recognition

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 26, 2017) – The Western New England University women's lacrosse team has been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. Additionally, senior defender Alexa Kimker (Waltham, Mass.) has earned a spot on the IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll.

Kimker, who graduated in May with a degree in Biology, is among 532 student-athletes from 159 institutions to be recognized for posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. To be eligible, candidates must also be a junior, senior or graduate student. Kimker earns this honor for the second consecutive season.

A 2016 All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) third team performer, Kimker appeared in 66 games over her four-year career, making 48 starts. She compiled 66 ground balls, 38 draw controls and 38 caused turnovers to go with two goals and seven assists.

As a team, Western New England is one of 308 programs across NCAA Divisions I, II and III to be recognized as an IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for recording a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2016-17 academic year.
