Roger Williams Pulls Away for 4-0 Victory over Golden Bears

Hawks net three second half goals

BRISTOL, R.I. (October 8, 2016) – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team pulled away from Western New England University with three second half goals on its way to a 4-0 victory this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Bayside Field.

Top Performers
• Senior forward Brooke Labrie (Granby, Mass.) put one of her team-high two shots on target and was involved in several of Western New England's scoring chances.

• Roger Williams sophomore forward Raleigh LeMiere-Barnes (Los Angeles, Calif.), who was among four different goal scorers for the Hawks, found the back of the net in the 56th minute before providing an assist on the home team's third goal 22 minutes later.

Match Review
• Western New England nearly took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, when Labrie sent a pass to junior midfielder Christina Delude (Belchertown, Mass.) and she fired a shot at the goal, but her attempt glanced off the upper right corner of the post.
• Instead it was the Hawks that got on the board first in the 23rd minute, when senior midfielder Jenna Hart (Cheshire, Conn.) headed home a free kick taken by classmate Kristen Casey (East Longmeadow, Mass.).
• Roger Williams doubled its advantage ten minutes into the second half on LeMiere-Barnes' third goal of the season, before taking a 3-0 lead in the 78th minute when LeMiere-Barnes found freshman forward Morgan Snow (Rowley, Mass.), who fired a shot into the left corner of the net.
• The home team tacked on one more goal with less than a minute remaining to extend the final margin to 4-0.  

Notes
• Western New England sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Veilleux (Newington, Conn.) finished with seven saves, while Roger Williams junior Sydney Martin (Scarborough, Maine) totaled three.
• The Hawks outshot the Golden Bears 21-9 and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
