Western New England Hosts 21st Annual Golf Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 27, 2019) – The Western New England University athletic department hosted its 21st Annual Golf Classic on Monday (9/23) at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, Mass.

The event, which raised over $80,000 and received contributions from more than 70 companies and individuals, directly benefits Golden Bear athletics and the student-athlete experience at Western New England. Alumni, family, friends and supporters of Western New England athletics were among the 128 golfers that participated.

Western New England recognized Laura Sturgis Boule '01/G'02 as the Guest of Honor at this year's event. Boule currently serves as the Vice President of Residential Asset and Property Management at Nordblom Company in Burlington, Mass. She remains active within the Western New England community as a co-chair for the University's Campaign for Our Second Century, and is a member of the College of Business Advisory Board. Boule has been a loyal alumna donor, mentor, and volunteer for nearly two decades.

Boule, the class of 2001 valedictorian, was a standout women's lacrosse student-athlete at Western New England and was a member of the program's inaugural team as a sophomore in 1999. In 2001, she was named to the Verizon Academic All-America College Division First Team.
