Heidi Grieger Named CCC Pitcher of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 4, 2016) - Senior Heidi Grieger (Hyde Park, N.Y.) of the Western New England University softball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.
 
Grieger turned in a pair of impressive performances in the circle last week, registering two complete game victories with a 0.50 earned run average and nine strikeouts.
 
In her first start of the week on Tuesday, Grieger struck out four batters and allowed two runs, both unearned, in a 4-2 win over Westfield State. She followed that up by going the distance again in Friday's 5-2 win over Gordon, improving to 6-4 on the season after giving up just one earned run on five hits while striking out five batters.
 
Grieger's six wins lead the CCC, while her 30 strikeouts and 2.86 ERA are good for second and tenth, respectively. The Hyde Park, N.Y. native has been victorious in each of her last four appearances.
 
Western New England (10-8, 4-0 CCC) is off until the weekend, as the Golden Bears are scheduled to play two games at Salve Regina on Saturday before returning home to host Endicott for a doubleheader on Sunday.
