Western New England players Olivia Lathrop and Emily Woodford honored by the CCC

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Two members of the Western New England women's volleyball team received recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) on Monday (Sept. 28).

Senior middle hitter Olivia Lathrop (Farmington, CT) was selected the CCC Player of the Week while freshman libero Emily Woodford (Belchertown, MA) took home the conference Rookie of the Week award.

Both individuals played key roles as the Golden Bears opened play in the CCC with a pair of thrilling 3-2 victories at Salve Regina and against Univ. of New England.

Lathrop compiled a .311 hitting percentage with 27 kills and nine digs in the two matches. She had 18 kills, six digs, and a .389 hitting percentage against the Seahawks, and nine kills three digs, and three blocks vs. the Nor'easters.

Woodford posted a career and match-high 25 digs against Salve Regina while adding a team best 16 digs against Univ. of New England.

Western New England (7-4) hosts Eastern Connecticut (6-7) in a non-conference match at 7:00 pm Tuesday (Sept. 29) in the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
