Western New England University senior middle hitter Olivia Lathrop (Farmington, Conn.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for volleyball, the league office announced yesterday.

Lathrop led the Western New England offense last week, hitting .431 with 3.22 kills per set as the Golden Bears swept all three of their matches and secured the No. 4 seed in the CCC Championship. The senior captain also contributed defensively with two blocks in each contest and totaled seven digs over the course of the week.

In last Tuesday's 3-0 win over Curry College, she hit .471 and put down ten kills to go with two digs and two blocks. She capped her huge week with nine kills, three digs and a pair of solo blocks in a 3-0 senior day sweep of Wentworth on Saturday.

Lathrop has been one of the top players in the CCC this season, ranking sixth in the conference with 2.63 kills/set and second with a .297 hitting percentage. She has totaled 10+ kills in ten of Western New England's 25 matches, including a season-high of 19 in a 3-2 setback at Eastern Connecticut State on September 29th.

Western New England (13-12, 5-3 CCC) opens the CCC Championship tomorrow night at 7 p.m. with a quarterfinal match against Salve Regina University at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
