Golden Bears Knock Off Both RIC and Gordon in Double-Dual Meet

Springfield, Mass. (November 12, 2022) – The Golden Bears returned home from Dartmouth for a double dual meet with Rhode Island College and Gordon College. The Golden Bears were undefeated in dual, and tri-meets going into the day and hoped to stay fast against both teams.

Scores:

WNE: 167 vs. RIC: 68

WNE: 156 vs. Gordon: 95

How it Happened:

The Golden Bears were on fire to start the meet. Caitlin Guntly, Amanda Robinson, Hailey Dion, and Renee Lussier grabbed first place in the 200 Medley Relay. Megan Morissey followed with a second-place finish and a best time in the 1000-yard freestyle. Caitlin Hall would then grab first and a best time by three seconds in the 200 freestyle. Next, Taylor Gravel swam the 50 backstroke and got a best time of 39.85, and after that, Amanda Robinson got second in the 50 backstroke. The 100 butterfly saw the Golden Bears dominate, with Alexa Adams and Hailey Dion getting first and second place. That was the case in the 50 freestyle as well. However, it was Guntly and Lussier getting first and second. Katarina DaSilva finished quickly behind them in fourth place with a best time of 30.44. 

The Golden Bears kept the good swims coming when they placed three in the top four of the 100 freestyle. Hall, DeLuca, and Adams were the three. Guntly and Gravel then went first and third, respectively, for the 100 backstroke. Both had personal best times. Gravel's best time was by over two seconds. Robinson then picked up second place in the 100 backstroke, and Morissey got second, as well, but for the 500 freestyle. The strong swims did not stop as the Golden Bears got first and third in the 50 butterfly. Robinson followed that race up with a best time in the 200 IM and a first-place finish. The meet finished with the 200 freestyle relay and a first-place finish for the Golden Bears. Again, Adams, DaSilva, Morissey, and Hall helped lead WNE first in the race. Those big swims helped lead the Golden Bears to their second and third win of the weekend.

The Golden Bears will be in the pool on Saturday, November 19, at noon. The women will be at Eastern Connecticut State University for a tri-meet with ECSU and Plymouth State University.
