Athletic Training Room Daily Operations

ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM – DAILY OPERATIONS

It is the coach’s responsibility to assign student-athletes to be responsible for: bringing their team medical kit to their game and practice locations, and bringing their water coolers, ice chests, medical kit and water bottles in from their game and practice locations.

The AT staff will take care of providing all pertinent medical supplies for all home games. This includes ice, splints, AED, crutches and athletic training supplies.

The AT Room will be cleaned and organized at the end of each day.

Team medical kits are to be restocked on a weekly basis by the athletic training aides. A list of supplies is available in the HLC Athletic Training Room.

All medical files in the HealthyRoster system are updated as to include SOAP notes, progress, treatments, rehabilitation, and daily changes to a student-athlete’s injury status. This is only performed by a certified, licensed athletic trainer. Each injury should have a SOAP note completed at least weekly, and notes completed with daily treatments and/or assessments.

All head coaches in their traditional seasons will be notified daily of their current injured athlete’s status.

Athletes, staff and coaches are not allowed in any cabinets in the AT Room.

All borrowed equipment must be signed out and signed back in when returned.

Athletes must wear proper attire and foot wear when receiving rehabilitation or treatments.

Athletes must shower after practice in order to receive treatments, especially when entering the whirlpool.

WNE athletic trainers maintain strict confidentiality of an athlete’s medical history, records, injuries and status.

Athletic Training staff and students are required to maintain a professional appearance and appropriate attire at all times. It is important to present a positive public image for the AT Staff, profession and University. WNE polo shirts and khakis are required on days on which there is a game on campus. Collared shirts or appropriate tee-shirts with khaki pants or shorts are acceptable on all other days that school is in session.

All modalities should only be used by, or under the direct supervision of a licensed Athletic Trainer.

All injuries, treatments and rehabilitation programs should be documented in the HealthyRoster system daily. Incident reports for injuries that were referred or seen off-campus should be filled out and submitted to the Head Athletic Trainer.

Supplies should be inventoried and restocked on a regular basis. Any supplies which are noticed to be running low should be reported to the Head Athletic Trainer.

All borrowed injury equipment, such as air casts, braces, crutches, etc. must be returned to the Athletic Training staff or the student-athletes will be billed and responsible for reimbursing the Athletic Training Group.
