Lancaster Headlines All-CCC Third Team, Men’s Ice Hockey Picks Up Sportsmanship Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 8, 2023) – Western New England men's ice hockey goaltender Colten Lancaster has landed on the All-CCC Third Team, as announced by the conference office today. The senior grabbed six wins for Western New England this season while making a career best 780 saves. Western New England men's ice hockey was also awarded with the Sportsmanship Award, which will be WNE's fifth time receiving the award in the six years it has been given out by the conference office. 

Lancaster played in 23 games this season for Western New England, making 22 starts. The senior played in a career best 1345:14 minutes between the pipes, supporting a 3.79 GAA, making 780 total saves, nearly 100 more than the next keeper in the CCC. Lancaster put together a .902 save percentage for the blue and gold, also a career mark. 

Western New England men's ice hockey, led by second hear head coach Mike Young, was also awarded the CCC Sportsmanship Award, as voted on by the CCC head coaches. The Golden Bears finished the season with a 7-18-1 record, which included a 5-15-1 mark in CCC play. WNE was the fifth seed in the CCC Playoffs before dropping the quarterfinal game to Salve Regina University
