Football to Host No. 25 Brockport in NCAA Tournament First Round Next Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England University football team will host The College at Brockport in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament next Saturday (11/23) with opening kickoff set for 12 p.m. at Golden Bear Stadium.

Western New England (9-1, 7-0 CCC Football) earned the CCC's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament after completing an unbeaten conference schedule this fall. The Golden Bears will be making their fifth consecutive and sixth overall appearance in the national playoffs.

Western New England was selected as an NCAA Tournament host for just the second time in program history. The Golden Bears hosted for the first time in 2016 and earned a 44-27 victory over Husson.

Brockport (8-2, 5-1 Empire 8), which was ranked No. 25 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Poll, captured its third consecutive Empire 8 title this season.

The winner of next Saturday's contest between Western New England and Brockport will face the winner of the Muhlenberg/MIT matchup in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, November 30.
