Soberanis & Keutmann Earn D3football.com All-East Region Honors

D3football.com Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior running back Jamyre Soberanis (Dorchester, Mass.) and junior linebacker Erich Keutmann (Washingtonville, N.Y.) of the Western New England University football team have both been received D3football.com All-East Region honors.

Both student-athletes earn All-Region honors for the first time, as Keutmann was named to the second team defense and Soberanis earned third team offense recognition.

Keutmann, the CCC Football Co-Defensive Player of the Year, was also recognized as the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Joe Zabilski award winner as New England's top defensive player in Division II/III. Additionally, he was selected as a New England Football Writers DII/DIII All-Star.

Keutmann finished the 2019 season with 132 total tackles, which ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division III. He recorded 10+ tackles in eight of Western New England's 11 games. Nine of Keutmann's tackles resulted in a loss of yards, including four sacks.

He opened the season with 12 stops and a sack in the Golden Bears' victory over crosstown rival Springfield College on September 7, before making 23 tackles in Western New England's key win over Endicott on November 2. Keutmann followed that performance up with 19 tackles the following week at Becker as the Golden Bears clinched their fifth straight conference title. This past Saturday, he wrapped up his junior campaign with 13 tackles and a sack in Western New England's 33-28 loss to Brockport in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Soberanis, an All-CCC first team honoree, ran for 946 yards and 14 touchdowns while gaining 6.3 yards per attempt during his impressive senior campaign. Soberanis topped the 100-yard mark in the final five games of the regular season and six times overall, with a career-best 168 yards in Western New England's 50-38 win at UNE on September 28. The junior found the end zone on the ground in all but two of ten regular season games, with four multi-touchdown performances.

Soberanis and Keutmann become the ninth and tenth Golden Bears in program history to earn All-East Region honors from D3football.com. They join Kurtis Jolicoeur (2018), Nick Connell (2016), Kevin Cook (2014), Connor DeVarney (2015), Sam Edouard (2016, 2017), Obi Etuka (2015, 2016), Dillon Martin (2016) and Kenneth Vollaro (2015).
