Omari Lewis Named to D3Football.com All Region First Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 7, 2022) – Western New England corner back Omari Lewis was named to the D3Football.com 2022 All-Region 1 First Team. The teams, selected in balloting by Region 1 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 199 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 79 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 16, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLIX.

After already being named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference First Team at the conclusion of the season, Lewis collects additional accolades from D3Football.com. Lewis appeared in all ten games for Western New England on the season, making 29 solo and 21 assisted tackles, averaging five tackles per game. Lewis collected two interceptions, returning the ball 29-yards on the catches while also recording eight pass break ups on the season. Lewis  shined for Western New England in a 31-8 win over Curry College, collecting seven solo tackles and four assisted tackles, good for 11 total tackles in the game, a career best. 

The Golden Bears wrapped up their 2022 season with a 4-6 overall record, collecting a 3-3 CCC record.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 1 includes the Commonwealth Coast Conference, Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, Middle Atlantic Conference, New England Small College Athletic Conference, New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.
