WNE Cross Country Competes at Ron Ouellette Invitational

BIDDEFORD, Maine (September 10, 2022) – The Western New England cross country team's both took to the course on Saturday afternoon competing in the Ron Ouellette Invitational, hosted  by the University of New England. WNE women's cross country finished in 6th place of eight teams in the event while WNE men's cross country placed 8th of nine teams in the event. Roger Williams women's cross country and Endicott College men's cross country would finish in first for their respective sides. 

How it Happened:

On the women's side, sophomore Emily Kowal finished in 11th place for the Golden Bears, leading all WNE runners, finishing the 5k race with a total time of 21:06, averaging 6:47 per mile. Fellow sophomore Keara Mooney finished in 17th place for Western New England, completing the 5k race in 22:10 of 71 runners. Nina Garofalo finished in the top 30, finishing in 27th place for WNE, completing with a time of 22:55. Also competing in the morning event was Victoria Burke (24:55), Davis Farrow (26:48), and Marissa Crisafulli (29:53). The women's cross-country team would total 6th place, averaging a time of 23:35. 

The Western New England men's cross-country team was led by Matt Provost, who took the top spot for the Golden Bears for the second straight week, completing the race 8k race in 30:18, finishing in 26th place for WNE. Also finishing in the top 40 for Western New England was both Maximillian Fitch (30:32), and Joshua Farrell (31:04). Western New England also saw John Bieszczad, Corey Pierce, Nicholas Carlson, John Falco, and Lance Tomlinson compete in the 98 runner 8k race. WNE would end up placing eighth on the afternoon.

  • Both WNE men's and women's cross country will travel to the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 17 for a 12:00 pm race.
