Cross Country Opens Season at Keene State Alumni Meet

KEENE, N.H. (September 3, 2022) – The Western New England men's and women's cross-country teams started their season at the Keene State College Alumni Meet on Saturday morning, as WNE men's cross country finished fifth of seven team while WNE women's cross country finished 4th of six teams. 

How it Happened:
The Western New England men saw one place in the top ten of the race, as Matt Provost would come in at 16:41, good for ninth place in the 5K race. All Golden Bears finished in the top 30 of the race, including an 18thplace finish from Joshua Farrell (17:16), and 23rd place from Maximillian Fitch (17:33)Nicholas Carlson, Joshua Bellman, John Bieszczad and Corey Pierce also had top-30 finishes for Western New England. 

In the 2 mile race, it was Emily Kowal led Western New England with a 12:15 time, good for eighth place in the race. Keara Mooney finished in 14th place for the Golden Bears, coming in at a time of 12:31. Nina Garofalo, Davis Farrow and Victoria Burke would all cross the finish line for Western New England at the Golden Bears averaged a 13:12 race pace in the 2 mile event.
