Golden Bears Cross Country Takes Course at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. (October 8, 2022) -  The Western New England men's and women's cross-country teams hit the course on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park, in Westfield, Mass. for the annual James Earley Invitational. The Western New England men's cross-country team finishes 17th/24 teams while the WNE women's team finished in 18th/25 teams. 

How it Happened:
On the women's side, Emily Kowal finished tops for the Golden Bears, finishing in 43rd place of 167 runners with a time of 20:29 in the 5k run. Nina Garofalo finished the race in 75th place, crossing the finish line at 21:17. Six places after Garofalo was Keara Mooney, who finished the race in 21:28, taking 81st place. Also competing for the Golden Bears on the afternoon was Victoria Burke, who finished in 126th place, crossing the finish at 24:04 and Davis Farrow, who finished at 24:40. The Golden Bears women's side also saw Katie Burnham, Marissa Crisafulli and Alyssa Clemence compete in the "blue" race, which was compiled of 74 runners. 

The WNE men's side was led by Matt Provost, who took 56th place out of 181 runners, finishing the 8k race in 27:47. Maximillian Fitch came in second for WNE runners, completing the course in 28:55. Three runners for the Golden Bears finished in the next nine places, as Joshua Farrell, Nicholas Carlson, and Joshua Bellman completed the race all within 22 seconds of one another. Corey Pierce, John Falco, Lance Tomlinson, and Isaac Pedro also competed for Western New England as the Golden Bears finished 17th in the race of 24 teams.
