Cross Country Competes at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 17, 2022) – The Western New England men's and women's cross-country teams took to UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon, with the men's team finishing in 30thplace, while the women's team placed 33rd

How it Happened (Men's):

The Western New England men were led by Matt Provost, who finished 164th in the five-mile race with a time of 28:39. Joshua Farrell finished just inside the top 200 runners in the race, completing the race in 189th place at a time of 28:39. WNE's Maximillian Fitch finished just inside the 200th spot in the race, coming in a 201, with a time of 29:05. Also competing in this weekend's race for the Golden Bears was Nicholas Carlson (209th / 29:31), Corey Pierce (243rd / 30:40), and John Bieszczad (251st / 31:09). In total, 282 runners from 36 different institutions ran in the men's cross-country race. UMass-Lowell took the top spot with Connecticut College finishing in second as a team. 

How it Happened (Women's):

For the third straight meet, WNE's Emily Kowal led the Golden Bears on the women's side, finishing in 122ndplace in the 5k race, finishing with a time of 20:12. Finisihing just two seconds apart from each other were WNE's Keara Mooney and Nina Garofalo, who finished with times of 20:54 and 20:56, respectively. The Golden Bears also saw Victoria Burke and Davis Farrow finish one spot after each other, with Bukre coming in with a 23:50 time, while Farrow ended with an even 24:00 minutes in the race. As a team, WNE finished 33rd of 39 teams.
