Golden Bear Stadium

Golden Bear Stadium, which opened in September 2002 with a capacity of 2,000 fans, is one of Western New England's newest facilities. The lighted multi-purpose field is part of the Suprenant Field complex and is located adjacent to the baseball, softball and soccer venues. It is used by the institution's varsity field hockey, football, and men's and women's lacrosse teams, as well as the school's intramurals program.

During the summer of 2010, the stadium installed new turf. Click here to read the story.

Western New England University's football and lacrosse teams previously played their contests on the game field located near the St. Germain Campus Center. The University built a new residence hall on the site. The field hockey team played its events on a grass surface at Suprenant Field at one time.

"The entire University has worked together to advance varsity and intramural sports because we recognize how beneficial these are for our students and for the growing reputation of Western New England," said University president Dr. Anthony S. Caprio.

According to athletics director Mike Theulen, "This facility is a tremendous asset for our student-athletes and teams, and will complement our Alumni Healthful Living Center. It also allows us to deliver programming in a qualitative way for our student-athletes and student body."
