LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 19, 2023) – Western New England softball graduate student second baseman Dina DiBlasio and senior third baseman Kailey Carrano have earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Region II Third Team awards. In total, 373 student-athletes from 174 institutions comprise of the NFCA All-Region Teams for the 2023 season.

(May 16, 2023) – The Western New England softball team earned six total student-athletes on the All-CCC Awards list, as presented by the Commonwealth Coast Conference head office this afternoon. Five from WNE Softball picked up All-CCC First Team recognitions while WNE saw one earn All-CCC Third Team honors.

Beverly, MA (May 13, 2023) – The Golden Bears marched into the CCC championship series against Endicott College after a massive win over Wentworth yesterday at home. With two games today, the Golden Bears had to win two for the championship or one to force a winner-take-all game on Sunday. Game one saw the Gulls jump on the Golden Bears early and ride it to an 11-3 win in six innings. Game two saw both teams battle early, but Endicott would outlast the Golden Bears, put up five runs in the sixth inning and win 8-0. The Endicott Gulls won the CCC championship in two games.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 12, 2023) – WNE welcomed the Wentworth Leopards once again for a win-or-go-home CCC tournament game, with the winner earning a spot in the CCC championship series. The Golden Bears took the win decisively by a score of 9-1 in five innings.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 11, 2023) – The Western New England softball team fell at home to the third seeded Leopards of Wentworth for the first time this season after beating Wentworth three previous times this season as the Leopards swept the day, forcing a winner-take-all game on Friday afternoon with the winner to take on Endicott College in the CCC Championship series.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 10, 2023) – It is CCC tournament time for the Golden Bears. Having locked up the two-seed on Saturday, the Golden Bears hosted pod bracket B. Day one of play saw the Golden Bears host Suffolk University in Game One. The Golden Bears took care of business in game one with an 8-0 win in five innings. Game two went eight innings against Wentworth, and for the third time this season, the Golden Bears walked it off against the Leopards.

Springfield, MA (May 6, 2023) – The Golden Bears returned to Golden Bear Park after a tough road trip on Tuesday to Salve Regina. With this being the final two games for the Golden Bears, they were looking to take care of the Rams from Suffolk University and secure the two-seed in the CCC tournament. Game one saw the Rams grab a two-run lead, but the Golden Bears fought back and won it 5-2. Game two saw fireworks at the end, with Kaleigh Blades hitting a walk-off single to help the Golden Bears win 5-4.

Newport, R.I. (May 2, 2023) – WNE looked to extend their win streak on the road in Newport at Salve Regina University. The doubleheader had been postponed twice, but finally, the weather cooperated, and the teams played ball. Game one was a nailbiter that went back and forth but saw Salve Regina get a walk-off single for the win 3-2. Game two saw a record-breaking home run from Kailey Carrano, but the Seahawks took the win 9-5.

Biddeford, Maine (April 26, 2023) – The Golden Bears traveled to the University of New England for a midweek CCC clash. After their doubleheader sweep of Wentworth on Saturday, WNE was sitting in second place in the CCC, hoping to stay there after the doubleheader today. Game one saw extra innings played, and WNE would hold off UNE for a 9-8 victory. The Nor’Easters took a quick lead in game two, but the Golden Bears would come back and complete the sweep eighth win in a row.

Springfield, Mass. (April 22, 2023) – After a big sweep of non-conference opponent Amherst College on Wednesday, WNE returned to Springfield to host the Leopards of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. Game one saw Kailey Carrano hit a walk-off single for the Golden Bears as they won 5-4. Game two sang a similar tune as Carrano blasted a two-run walk-off home run to win it for the Golden Bears 7-5.

Amherst, Mass. (April 19, 2023) – WNE hit the road for a mid-week non-conference matchup with the Mammoths of Amherst College, one of the top teams in New England. The first game, set for a later start time of 3:30 PM, went the way of the Golden Bears, 1-0, due to outstanding defense and pitching. Game two saw the teams flip-flop the lead back and forth, but the Golden Bears would tack a run on late and complete the sweep with a 3-2 win.
