Bio

South Burlington, Vermont native Kyle Murakami joins the Western New England women's lacrosse team as an assistant coach for the 2023 season. Murakami comes to WNE after spending three seasons at Springfield College on the men's lacrosse team. With the Pride, Murakami played in 35 games making two starts. Murakami scored five goals and added an assist over his career with the Pride, registering six total points. The midfielder scooped 55 ground balls and caused 24 turnovers while taking 20 career shots. Murakami is a two-time NEWMAC Champion (2018, 2019) and was elected captain in 2020. Other accolades while at Springfield College include USILA Academic All American in 2020, NEWMAC First Team All-Conference in 2019 and NEWMAC Academic All-Conference in 2018, 2019, and 2020. 

Murakami also spent one season at the University of Vermont. Prior to UVM, Murakami captained the South Burlington High School men's lacrosse team as a senior in 2016. He sits in second place at South Burlington for points in a single season (100), while netting 65 goals and dishing out 35 assists as a senior. In 2016, Murakami was named a US Lacrosse All-American and garnered First Team All-League and First Team All-State laurels in 2015 as a midfielder. 

Murakami graduated from Springfield College in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and continued his education at Springfield College by receiving his master's degree in school counseling while also being the graduate assistant for the men's lacrosse team.
