Longmeadow, Massachusetts native Rachel Woods joined the Western New England women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach in 2022. Prior to joining the Golden Bears, Woods was a standout women's lacrosse defender at George Mason University.

Woods was part of four winning seasons with the Patriots. Woods played in and started in all 18 games for her final three years with George Mason, playing in 64 total games. Woods was named to the A-10 Commissioners Honor Roll four times and also received the 2017 Provost Scholar Athlete Award.
