Zac Nussbaum Picks up First Career CCC Player of the Week Honor

Bridgewater, Mass. native hit .444 with 3 homers & 9 RBI last week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 1, 2019) – Junior infielder Zac Nussbaum (Bridgewater, Mass.) of the Western New England University baseball team has been selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Nussbaum batted .444 (8-for-18) with three home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored in a 4-1 week for the Golden Bears. He had at least one hit in all five contests with a pair of multi-hit efforts. Nussbaum went 4-for-6 with three homers and five RBI on Wednesday as Western New England swept Curry, before going 3-for-8 with four RBI on Saturday as the Golden Bears clinched the CCC regular season title with two wins over Endicott. He also posted a .944 slugging percentage for the week.

In 33 games this season, Nussbaum is batting .318 (34-for-107) with nine doubles, one triple, four home runs and 34 RBI. He has also walked 18 times and scored 25 runs.

Nussbaum, a 2018 All-CCC third team selection, is a career .286 hitter (79-for-276) with 20 doubles, two triples, 11 homers and 69 RBI.

Western New England (22-11, 13-1 CCC) is on the road at No. 7/8 Babson College on Monday afternoon. The Golden Bears open the CCC Tournament at home on Friday against an opponent to be determined.
