Sean Halligan Garners D3baseball.com All-New England Honorable Mention Accolades

North Branford, Conn. native led CCC with seven saves this season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 24, 2019) – Senior relief pitcher Sean Halligan (North Branford, Conn.) of the Western New England University baseball team has been named an All-New England Region honorable mention selection by D3baseball.com, the website announced on Thursday.

Halligan, a two-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) first team honoree, wrapped up his collegiate career by compiling a CCC-high seven saves this season. He went 1-2 with a 3.38 earned run average and 13 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.

Halligan began his career as a starter, going 3-3 in six starts during his freshman and sophomore seasons. The North Branford, Conn. native then transitioned to a relief role for his final two campaigns, making 27 appearances out of the bullpen. As a junior in 2018, Halligan posted a 0.81 earned run average for a Western New England squad that captured the CCC title and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Halligan is among three relief pitchers in New England to garner All-Region accolades. He is one of three CCC student-athletes to be honored.

Western New England posted a 23-14 record this spring and won the CCC regular season title with a 13-1 league record.
