Golden Bears Fall to Nichols, 4-0

Johns finishes with 22 saves on 25 shots

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 19, 2019) – The Nichols College ice hockey team posted a 4-0 win over Western New England University on Saturday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Olympia Ice Center.

Top Performers
Nichols freshman center Justin Perron (Thetford Mines, Quebec) factored into three of the Bison's four goals, as he scored one himself and handed out three assists.

Sophomore forward Nate Foster (West Chazy, N.Y.) found the back of the net twice, while senior T.J. Roche (Northport, N.Y.) recorded a trio of assists.

Nichols sophomore goalie Henry Burns (Camillus, N.Y.) turned away all 27 shots he faced to earn the shutout.

Appearing in net for the seventh time this season, Western New England junior goaltender Baylee Johns (Woodstock, Conn.) made 22 saves on 25 shots.

Game Review
Foster opened the scoring for the visitors just before the midpoint of the first period with the help of an assist from Perron.

Five minutes later, Perron doubled the Bison's lead when he registered his sixth goal of the season at the 14:37 mark.

Nichols led 2-0 at the first intermission, and after a scoreless second period that saw the two teams combine for just ten shots on goal, the Bison tacked on another goal 14:39 into the third.

Late in regulation, Western New England pulled Johns in favor of an extra attacking forward, and the Bison capitalized with Foster netting his second of the game to extend the final margin to 4-0.

• Western New England held a slight edge in shots (27-26), while the Bison owned a 25-21 advantage in the faceoff circle.
• Johns has a team-best 3.09 goals against average this season.
