Senior Abby Garaban Named to Final NEWBA Team of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 22, 2023) – Western New England senior guard Abby Garaban has been named to the Week 13 New England Women's Basketball Association's final weekly awards, being named to the NEWBA Second Team. 

Garaban began last week by scoring ten points off 4/7 shooting from the field while connecting on two important three-point shots, giving Western New England an 83-67 win over Suffolk University. Garaban grabbed eight rebounds, two assists, and a block to help Western New England to a big conference win. 

The Maplewood, New Jersey native finished the weekend at Gordon College by dropping a season high 21 points, connecting on eight total field goals while producing two three pointers. Garaban stole nine rebounds while collecting six assists, while grabbing one steal and one block in the contest. 

Garaban led Western New England to a 62-50 win on Tuesday night in the CCC Quarterfinal game at Salve Regina, scoring 16 points, grabbing six rebounds, taking in five assists, and one steal for the Golden Bears. Garaban's efforts led Western New England into the CCC Semifinal round where the fifth seeded Golden Bears will take on the top seeded Hawks of Roger Williams University on Thursday, February 23 at 6:00 pm.
