Women’s Soccer Draws York College (Pa.) In 2022 Division III Women’s Soccer National Championships Opening Round

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 7, 2022) – The Western New England women's soccer team will take on York College of Pennsylvania in the Division III NCAA Tournament in the opening round, as announced by the NCAA in the bracket unveiling on Monday afternoon. The Golden Bears will travel to Misericordia University, who will host the four team pod. Marywood University will match up wih Misericordia in the opening round, with the two winners, between Misericordia and Marywood and WNE and York to play in the second round game. 

Western New England wrapped up a 2022 season on Saturday by capping it off with their first ever Commonwealth Coast Conference championship in a 3-0 win over University of New England. WNE came away with a 13-5-2 record in 2022, collecting six wins in conference play, going 6-2-1, which included winning their final four games of the season and nine of their last ten games in total. 

York College (Pa.) is coming off a loss to top seeded Messiah in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Final 2-0. The Spartans collected a 12-4-4 record during the 2022 season, which included a 6-0-2 mark during the regular season. York was highlighted with a 1-0 win over No. 2 Messiah University during the regular season before falling to the Falcons during the championship game. 

This will be the first all-time meeting between the two schools.
