Women’s Cross Country Places 10th at Western New England Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 19, 2019) – The Western New England University women's cross country team hosted its annual Invitational on campus Saturday morning, placing tenth in the 17-team field.
The Golden Bears posted a team score of 286 on their way to tenth place. Mount Holyoke won the team title with a score of 40, followed by the University of New England (111) and Wheaton (118). Mount Holyoke's Hannah Rieders paced the 198-runner field with a time of 21:56 on the six-kilometer course.
Western New England was led by senior Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.), who finished 28th overall and earned a time of 24:15.
Junior Samantha Lewis (Goffstown, N.H.) was the next Golden Bear to cross the finish line, placing 50th in 25:05, while senior Edelinda Baptista (Pawtucket, R.I.) followed in 89th place and clocked in at 26:30.
