Women’s Cross Country Races at NCAA Regional Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Western New England University women's cross country team concluded its 2019 season at the NCAA Regional Championship on Saturday morning at Bowdoin College.

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 1304 to finish 47th in the 54-team field. Williams took the top spot with a score of 64, with MIT (84) and Tufts (156) rounding out the top three. MIT sophomore Izzi Gengaro was the first runner to cross the finish line with a time of 21:19.

Senior Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.)  was the top runner for the Golden Bears, finishing in 208th place with a time of 25:19. Junior Samantha Lewis (Goffstown, N.H.) finished second for the Golden Bears with a time of 25:43, placing 230th.

Senior Edelinda Baptista (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished in 274th with a time of 26:49. Freshman Marissa Crisafulli (Weymouth, Mass.) followed just a few spots behind in 277th with a time of 26:55.

Senior Jessica Eldredge (South Windsor, Conn.) crossed the finish line with a time of 28:22 coming in 315th. Rounding out Western New England's seven runners were freshmen Taylor Mitchell (Monson, Mass.) and Katie Burnham (Monson, Mass.) finishing 332th and 333th respectively, with times of 29:37 and 29:49.
