Bio

Chris Smith enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Western New England University men’s basketball program in 2016-17.

Smith joins head coach Colin Tabb’s staff after serving as an assistant coach with the Suffield Academy  varsity boys basketball team in 2015-16. Smith coached under Jeff Depelteau at Suffield, where he was responsible for scouting opponents, creating game plans, and counseling players on their college decisions among other duties. Suffield reached the 2016 NEPSAC Class A Semifinals.

Smith also served as an assistant under legendary coach Leo Papile at the AAU level with Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC), one of the most prestigious amateur basketball programs in the country. He helped lead the BABC 19U squad to the AAU Division I National Championship in 2016.

Smith gained additional coaching experience as an assistant at the Salisbury School in Salisbury, Conn. (2013-14) and with Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington, Mass. (2012-13).

A 2010 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Smith earned his bachelor of arts degree in International Relations.
