Men's Cross Country Wins Elms Invitational, Women Earn Two Top-Ten Finishes

CHICOPEE, Mass. (September 25, 2021) – The men's and women's cross-country teams traveled to Chicopee Memorial State Park for the Elms College Blazer Cross Country Classic where the men won, and the women had two top-ten finishes.

The men won the meet with a total of 32 points and an average time of 31:22. The Golden Bears were led by Matt Provost who claimed second at the meet in 29:35.8 for a career-best in the 8K. Teammate Anthony Spooner came in right behind him in third in 29:41.4 while Nicholas Carlson placed sixth in 31:31.6. Shortly after Kyle O'Hern crossed the finish line in ninth (32:35.6) and Corey Pierce came in 12th (33:26.5). Matt Pelletier and John Falco crossed together with Pelletier claiming 15th (34:10.5) and Falco earning 16th (34:19.5).

The women claimed two top-ten finishes in the meet. Emily Kowal led the Golden Bears taking sixth in 26:34.0 for a personal best in the 6K while Victoria Burke placed ninth in 28:16.2, also a personal best. Skyler Sauriol completed the race in 21st (31:29.4) and Marissa Crisafulli claimed 34th (37:04.7).

The Golden Bears are back in action on Saturday, October 9th when the team heads to Westfield, Mass. for the James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park.
