Reigning CCC Champion Women’s Soccer Returns September 1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 18, 2023) – The Western New England women's soccer team will return to the pitch for the 2023 season in hopes of securing back-to-back CCC Championships, opening their schedule on home grass on Friday, September 1, as announced in the schedule release today.

WNE will open the season with three home games in a row and four home games out of five to begin 2023. The Wolves of Western Connecticut State University visit Supernant Field for a 4:00 PM game on Friday, September 1 to kick off the season. WestConn has the upper hand all-time in the series between the two teams, having won the last four matchups. WNE will then host cross-town rival Springfield College on Wednesday, September 6 at 4:00 PM. WNE defeated Springfield College in 2021 at Suprenant Field, beating SC for the first time since 2008. The mini three game homestand will wrap up on Saturday, September 9 for a 12:00 PM start time when Fitchburg State visits Springfield. The Golden Bears have never lost to the Falcons in the teams two previous meetings.

The blue and gold will hit the road for the first time on Wednesday, September 13 for a 6:00 PM game with Mount Holyoke College. WNE has beat the Lyons in the last four meetings, outscoring Mount Holyoke 14-1 in that span. The Golden Bears will then open conference play, where they finished 6-2-1 a season ago, when Curry College makes a visit to Suprenant Field on Saturday, September 16 at 12:00 PM.

WNE will venture for a two-game road trip, beginning on Tuesday, September 19 at 4:00 PM at Smith College. The Golden Bears will play their first road CCC contest on Saturday, September 23 at Wentworth Institute of Technology for a 3:00 PM start. WNE will wrap up the month of September at home, hosting Union College (N.Y.) and University of New England, last year's CCC runners-up in a rematch of the CCC Title game.

October will open on the road for the Golden Bears as they travel to Westfield State University (October 4) and Roger Williams University (October 6) for 7:00 PM and 6:00 PM games, respectively. WNE finishes the season with three of their final five games at home, hosting Suffolk University (October 11, 3:30 PM), Gordon College (October 14, 12:00 PM) and Endicott College (October 21, 12:00 PM), while hitting the road for a CCC game at Nichols College (October 19, 3:00 PM). WNE will play their final game against the newest member of the CCC, heading to the University of Hartford on Tuesday, October 24 at 4:00 PM to finish out the 2023 regular season schedule.
