Women’s Volleyball Reveals 2023 Schedule

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 19, 2023) – The Western New England women's volleyball team returns to the court this fall after completing a 17-13 season in 2022 which saw the sixth seeded Golden Bears upset the third seed in the CCC Quarterfinals as WNE looks to return to their winning ways beginning on September 1. 

The Golden Bears will open their 2023 campaign on the road, playing in the Eastern Nazarene Invitational during opening weekend. WNE will face Eastern Nazarene, Linfield University, and William Smith College during the two-day invite, which will take place on September 1 and September 2. Western New England's home opener will take place on Thursday, September 7 at 7:00 PM when Elms College makes the short trip to the Alumni Healthful Living Center. WNE will wrap up that week at the Bonnie May Invitational, hosted by Smith College. The Golden Bears will meet Lasell University, Elmira College, and Westfield State University over the course of the two-day tournament. 

The next home match for the Golden Bears will occur on Thursday, September 14 when WNE meets Westfield State for the second time during the season. WNE defeated WSU a season ago in a five-set thriller. The Golden Bears will take on Wheaton College (Mass.) and Plymouth State University in a tri-match on Saturday, September 16, hosted by Wheaton College. Eastern Connecticut State University visits the Alumni Healthful Living Center on September 19 as WNE looks to get their revenge on the Warriors from a season ago. WNE will open conference play on Saturday, September 23 at 5:00 PM at the University of New England. The blue and gold conclude the month of September with an away match at Lasell University (September 28) and a tri-match, hosted by Clark University with Salve Regina University on Saturday, September 30. 

WNE will play four home matches out of seven in the month of October, opening the month with a three-match homestand, welcoming University of Hartford (October 4), Mount Holyoke College (October 6), and Suffolk University (October 11) to Springfield. Following the three match homestand, Western New England will venture out for three important CCC matches on the road. The Golden Bears will meet Roger Williams University (October 14), Curry College (October 18), and Wentworth Institute of Technology (October 26) in that span. Western New England wraps up their 2023 regular season schedule with three home CCC matches, hosting Gordon College (October 28), Nichols College (November 1) and Endicott College (November 4) to round out the regular season calendar.
