Golden Bears Welcome Linnett and Quinn to Athletic Department

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 28, 2021) – The Western New England University athletic department is pleased to announce the addition of Mariah Linnett and Collin Quinn to the athletic communications office.

Linnett was named the Director of Athletic Communications earlier this month with Quinn being named the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant.

"We are happy to welcome Mariah and Collin to Western New England," says Lori Mayhew, the Associate Athletic Director. "Mariah brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and enthusiasm to our Athletic Communications Department which makes her the perfect person to elevate our program to new heights. Collin brings a great deal of knowledge and experience in the Graduate Assistant Role."

Linnett comes to the Golden Bears after a one-year stint at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana as the Assistant Sports Information Director. While working for the Warriors, Linnett helped promote the school's 26 varsity sports. During the 2020-21 year, Linnett promoted a multitude of team and individual honors including three national champion teams, 14 individual national champions, 11 national tournament qualifiers, ten conference champions, 64 All-Americans and promoted the inaugural season of the women's wrestling program helping with a feature on the women's wrestling program at the local news station in Fort Wayne.

"I am extremely excited to join Western New England Athletics and look forward to promoting such a successful college," said Linnett. "The Golden Bears have made a statement in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, and I am excited to tell the stories of their incredible student-athletes."

Prior to Indiana Tech, Linnett was an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at Assumption University for two years while earning her M.B.A. to graduate in 2020. Linnett received a bachelor's in Sports Management from Castleton University in 2018.

Quinn comes to the Golden Bears with extensive athletic communications experience having been the Sports Information Assistant at Keene State College for the past two years. While at Keene State, Quinn helped create and produce all video content for the athletic department while also providing statistical support and writing post-game recaps.

"I am so excited to join the athletic communications department at Western New England University," said Quinn. "WNEU has some of the best athletics in the region and it is an exciting thing to be a part of. I look forward to continuing my passion of athletic communications in a place where I will be able to bring my energy and new ideas to."

During his time at Keene State, Quinn also was a color commentator for the Pittsfield Suns where he was able to provide background about the players while directing live tweets during the game. Quinn has an extensive broadcasting background being a broadcast intern at the College of the Holy Cross and a public address announcer at Becker College on top of his Bachelor's in Communications with a Broadcast and Media Concentration from Worcester State University.
