Gallo leads Golden Bears, finishing 93rd in 29:10.18

WESTFIELD, Mass. (October 6, 2018) – The Western New England University men's cross country team ran to an 18th place finish on Saturday at the James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park.

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 502 to finish 18th in the 29-team field. Trinity College took the team title with a score of 64, while UMass Dartmouth (84), Norwich (108), Plymouth State (123) and host Westfield State (128) rounded out the top five. Plymouth State senior Sam Brunnette completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:08.60 to capture the individual crown.

Western New England was led by senior Nico Gallo (Ludlow, Mass.), who finished 93rd in the 210-runner field with a time of 29:10.18.

Freshman Anthony Spooner (West Bridgewater, Mass.) followed in 98th place and clocked in at 29:20.99, while sophomore Jacob Eberli (Ludlow, Mass.) finished 115th in 29:59.31.

The final two scoring runners for the Golden Bears were freshman Kyle O'Hern (Lincoln, R.I.) and junior Adam Monroe (Wilton, N.Y.), who placed 125th and 126th, respectively. O'Hern posted a time of 30:19.76, and Monroe finished in 30:23.55.
