Golden Bears Place Seventh at Western New England Invitational
Spooner paces WNE with 27th place finish in 28:39
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 13, 2018) – The Western New England University men's cross country team placed seventh at the program's annual Invitational on campus Saturday morning.
Western New England finished seventh in the 14-team field with a score of 220. Division I Harvard University won the team title with a score of 20, while Bridgewater State (57) and Wheaton (94) rounded out the top three. Harvard's Blake Evertsen was the top individual finisher after completing the eight-kilometer course in 25:17.
The Golden Bears were led by freshman Anthony Spooner (West Bridgewater, Mass.), who finished 27th overall and clocked in at 28:39.
Senior Nico Gallo (Ludlow, Mass.) placed 44th and posted a time of 29:26, while freshman Kyle O'Hern (Lincoln, R.I.) finished 55th in 29:50.
Sophomore captain Jacob Eberli (Ludlow, Mass.) followed just two spots after O'Hern in 57th place with a time of 29:57, and freshman Ed Bieszczad (Grantham, N.H.) finished in 31:07, good for 69th overall.
