Men’s Cross Country Competes at Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite

Golden Bears place eighth

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (September 7, 2019) – The Western New England University men's cross country team competed in its second race of the season on Saturday at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational, hosted by Fitchburg State University at Doyle Conservation Area.

The Golden Bears placed eighth of nine teams with a score of 239. UMass Dartmouth took the team title (42), while Bridgewater State (77), the University of New England (78), Fitchburg State (94) and Bentley (113) rounded out the top five.

Western New England's top finisher was sophomore Anthony Spooner (West Bridgewater, Mass.), who crossed the finish line 41st among 107 runners with a time of 29:12 on the eight-kilometer course.

Junior Jackson Day (Stamford, Conn.) followed in 52nd place (29:58), while senior Adam Monroe (Wilton, N.Y.) finished 61st and clocked in at 30:16.

Western New England's final two scoring runners were junior Jacob Eberli (Ludlow, Mass.) and sophomore Emmett Berard (Douglas, Mass.), who finished 79th and 85th, respectively
