Sarah Scott Picks Up CCC Player of the Week Accolades

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 17, 2022) – Senior outside hitter Sarah Scott earned her first Player of the Week accolades as announced by the Commonwealth Coast Conference in their weekly slew of awards. 

Scott, who has led the CCC in kills all season, put up another strong performance in the three matches this week for Western New England. WNE collected two wins in three matches on the week, going 1-0 in CCC play. Scott hit .444 in the win over Curry College, smashing down eight kills while making 18 total attacks. Scott followed up that performance by guiding the Golden Bears to a 3-2 victory over Wheaton College, where the Golden Bears saw themselves down 2-0 in the match. Scott would record a match high 20 kills on 50 total tacks while pulling out 12 digs in the win. The senior finished out the afternoon with seven kills on 29 total attacks and seven digs against Eastern Connecticut State University in the tri-match. 

On the season, the outside hitter has averaged 3.41 kills per set, a number that ranks second in conference play. Scott's 256 kills on the season puts her in first place in the conference, currently 25 more than the second-place holder. 

The Western New England volleyball team faces a huge test tomorrow, October 18 at 7:00 pm when they travel to Endicott College, who sits a 5-0 in CCC play. WNE will then travel to Keene State in their final non-conference match of the season before hosting Roger Williams University on Saturday, October 22 at 12:00 pm for homecoming weekend.
