Sarah Scott Named CCC Scholar Athlete of the Year, First Team All-CCC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 8, 2022) – The Commonwealth Coast Conference handed out their end of the year awards, marking Western New England volleyball senior Sarah Scott as the CCC Women's Volleyball Senior Scholar Athlete as well as CCC All-First Team. 

Scott led Western New England all season long in kills, coming away with 358 total kills on the year. The Granby, Massachusetts native collected 3.54 kills per set while collecting 1,004 total attacks on the season. Scott led the Golden Bears with 50 service aces, and 0.50 service aces per set. Over her three seasons with Western New England, Scott collected 648 kills in 57 matches, averaging 3.18 kills per set. The senior made 1,895 total attacks, collected a .193 hitting percentage, 42 assists, 97 service aces, 1,166 receptions, 629 digs,  17 solo blocks, 27 block assists, and 73 total blocks. Scott picks up First Team All-CCC for the season.

Scott also earned the CCC Scholar Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Golden Bear since 2017 to earn the accolade in women's volleyball. In addition to Scott's strong play on the court for Western New England, she also put together an impressive academic resume. The health science major currently holds a 3.987 GPA and belongs to two academic honors societies. In addition to her lab-heavy major, she is also pursuing minors in both chemistry and psychology. She has spent the semester working in the neuroscience lab as part of a research rotation and received a faculty commendation for her work. She also spent last summer in a showing program for optometry. The two-time WNE captain plans to attend medical school after graduation to pursue a career in optometry.

The Golden Bears wrapped up the 2022 season with a 17-13 record, which included a upset win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in the CCC Quarterfinal round.
