WNE Baseball Remains in NCAA Regional Rankings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 4, 2023) – The Western New England baseball team stays in the top six in the NCAA Division III Baseball Regional Rankings, as announced by the committee on Thursday afternoon.

Despite an unconventional 3-3 week, the Golden Bears are ranked sixth in the Region II rankings, which includes three total CCC opponents, including Western New England, and two other schools in which the Golden Bears will face or have faced this season.

Salve Regina University, who the Golden Bears faced twice in the month of April, took the top spot in the Region II rankings, earning a 28-6-1 record while being ranked in the D3baseball.com top 25 poll for the first time this season this week. The top two spots in the Region II rankings belong to CCC opponents as Endicott College ranks second, sitting at 30-5 overall and ranked fifth in the top-25 of the D3baseball.com poll. Mitchell College sits third in the rankings with a 28-7 record while both Little East Conference's Rhode Island College (25-11) and Eastern Connecticut State University (27-8) sit fourth and fifth in the rankings, respectively.

The Golden Bears are now 3-4-1 against ranked Regionally Ranked opponents, adding Trinity (Conn.) University to the list from a week ago. This week, Western New England will take on both Eastern Connecticut State University (Thursday, May 4) at 5:00 PM and Endicott College (Saturday, May 6) at 12:00 and 3:00 PM for a CCC doubleheader.
