Ten From Field Hockey Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 9, 2023)  - Western New England field hockey named ten student-athletes to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad, as announced by the organization today. 

The ten Western New England Field Hockey student-athletes were among the 1,700-field hockey student-athletes from 157 different NCAA Division III institutions. The NFCHA National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors undergraduate collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and were nominated by their NFCHA member coach. 

The ten Golden Bears include seniors Abby Burns (Hooksett, N.H.), and Emily Campbell (Goffstown, N.H.), junior Emma Karamian (Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomores Zoey Wexler (Manchester, Conn.), Amanda Burns (Attleboro, Mass.), Olyvia Whyte (Milford, Mass.), and Keegan McMahon (Rocky Hill, Conn.), and first year's Kara Edwards (Enfield, Conn.), Paige Remington (Suffield, Conn.), and Ella Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.). 

Three Division III academic awards remain to be announced – the NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be announced on February 16, the NFCHA National Academic Team awards will be awarded on February 21, and the National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on February 22.
