Golden Bears Ranked Tenth in NCAA New England Regional Rankings
Western New England resumes CCC Tournament on Thursday at Salve Regina
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 4, 2017) – The NCAA released the second edition of its regional softball rankings on Thursday afternoon, with Western New England University making its debut in the New England Region at No. 10.
The Golden Bears are one of two CCC teams to appear in the regional rankings, as Salve Regina is two spots higher at No. 8. Western New England split with the Seahawks on April 18 and also dropped a pair of contests to No. 1 ranked Springfield on April 11.
The Golden Bears (24-9), who earned the No. 2 seed in the CCC Tournament after completing league play with a 13-5 record, opened the double elimination round with a 9-3 win over third-seeded Roger Williams on Saturday in Springfield. Western New England resumes play on Thursday at 5 p.m. with a matchup at top-seeded Salve Regina.
