Strong First Half Pushes Women’s Lacrosse Past Salve Regina

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 14, 2021) – The Western New England University women's lacrosse team used a 12 goal first half to defeat Salve Regina 20-6 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.

Top Performers
Senior Reilly Miller led the Golden Bears with four goals and one assist, while junior Liz Mazza had three goals and two assists and junior Hannah Jarvis had three goals with one assist.

Kelly Ventura scored two goals and one assist for the Seahawks.

Game Review
Western New England got off to a strong start, with Jarvis scoring an unassisted goal just over 30 seconds into the game. The Golden Bears scored the next five goals, including three from Miller, to push the lead to 6-0 just over 10 minutes in.

Nicole Smith grabbed one back for the Seahawks, but Western New England outscored Salve Regina 6-2 over the remainder of the first half to take a 12-3 lead into halftime. The Golden Bears kept the momentum going to start the second half, scoring six of the first seven goals of the half.
