Baseball’s CJ Willis Picks Up CCC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 10, 2023) – The Western New England baseball team saw sophomore CJ Willis (Auburn, Mass.) earn his second CCC Player of the Week award after leading the Golden Bears to a perfect 3-0 conference schedule on the week. 

Willis opened the week going 2/3 in a 9-3 win over Nichols College, connecting on his seventh home run of the season to go along with four RBIs to grab their first CCC victory of the season. Willis would collect at least two hits in all four games on the week, including two hits at Keene State on five plate attempts, collecting an RBI. 

In the double header victory over Suffolk University, Willis continued to shine, collecting five hits on 11 plate appearances, amassing a double and a triple in the two contests, collecting three RBIs. 

On the season, the sophomore has hit .402 at the plate, collecting 37 total hits, 13 for extra bases while putting together 34 RBIs. Willis' seven home runs and 34 RBIs on the season lead the CCC. Western New England baseball will play four games this week, including three games in CCC play, beginning on Tuesday, April 11 at 3:30 PM when Wentworth Institute of Technology visits Trelease Park.
