WNE Baseball Appears in Opening Regional Rankings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 26, 2023) – The Western New England baseball team has made an appearance in the opening NCAA Regional Rankings, as announced by the regional committee today. 

Games through Sunday, April 23 are included in the regional rankings to open the season, with Western New England producing a 20-7-2 record through that date. The regional committee produces the top six teams in alphabetical order for each division. In Region II includes the reigning 2022 NCAA Division III Baseball Champions, Eastern Connecticut State University (25-7, 9-3 LEC), Endicott College (26-5, 10-1 CCC), Mitchell College (27-6, 10-0 NECC), Rhode Island College (22-11, 9-1 LEC) and Salve Regina University (24-6-1, 8-2-1 CCC). 

The next regional rankings will be released on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, and will include results against regionally ranked opponents. Through today's date, Western New England is 2-1-1 against Region II regionally ranked opponents. The Golden Bears will play all five regionally ranked opponents from Region II before the seasons end. Through all ten regions, Western New England is 3-3-1 against regionally ranked opponents, adding Amherst College (16-10-1, 5-4 NESCAC), Ithaca College (20-12, 9-5 LL), and Wheaton College (Mass.) (27-5, 12-1 NEWMAC) to the picture. 

Western New England is back in action for six games this week, facing Nichols College (L, 1-0), Dean College (4/26, 3:30 PM), Brandeis University (4/27, 7:00 PM), Gordon College (4/29, 12:00 & 2:30 PM), and Middlebury College (4/30, 1:00 PM), who is currently regionally ranked.
