How it Happened:

The blue and gold wasted little time to get on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning after Cody Waterbury connected on a moonshot to left field, grabbing his third home run of the season, quickly jump starting the lead, handing WNE a 1-0 lead. WNE would continue the scoring in the first after Sean Jameison reached on a single before Jack Loftus would get ahold of the baseball, grabbing a deep double to right center field to give Western New England a quick 2-0 lead off the rip.

In the top of the second inning, RBI machine John Bova would connect on a sacrifice fly, scoring Kohtaro Shimada, who led the top of the second inning off with a double as WNE took a 3-0 lead. SP Matt Lauria would work quickly through the opening frames after getting into trouble in the first inning, getting a ground ball double play before shutting down the Anchormen in order in the bottom of the second. RIC would score their first and only run off Lauria in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of a WNE miscue, getting the Anchormen on the scoreboard.

Western New England would respond with a run in the top of the fifth after Cody Waterbury would double down the left field line before Jack Loftus would bring in the WNE third baseman with a single to give WNE the 4-1 lead. The Golden Bears would break the game open in the top of the sixth, getting three runs to take a 7-1 lead. Aaron Cole would reach base on an Anchormen error, scoring Jake Gerraughty while CJ Willis would connect on a two RBI double later in the inning that score Cole and Paul Villlecco, giving WNE the six-run lead.

Two more runs would cross in the top of the sixth inning as both Sean Jamieson and Jack Loftus would score runs for the Golden Bears before the final two runs of the night would cross for WNE when Paul Villecco and CJ Willis recorded RBIs, giving WNE their tenth and eleventh runs of the afternoon.
Matt Lauria would work the first right innings for Western New England, giving up five hits and one unearned run while walking four and striking out six Anchormen. WNE would wrap the game up in the ninth inning as the Anchormen would score just twice off Lucas Kamoen before WNE would take the victory, 11-3.
