SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 29, 2019) – Senior faceoff specialist Hunter Cocks (Walden, N.Y.) of the Western New England University men's lacrosse team has been selected to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Cocks is among 54 senior student-athletes across all three NCAA Divisions to earn a spot in the contest, which will be held on Friday, May 31st at Johnson & Wales University with opening faceoff scheduled for 6 p.m.

The NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game recognizes senior lacrosse student-athletes that played their collegiate careers in the New England region. All players were nominated by head coaches within the NEILA and then ranked and selected by a committee.

Cocks was also honored for his accomplishments in the classroom earlier this week as he was named to the NEILA Academic All-New England Team. The Walden, N.Y. native was among 128 senior men's lacrosse student-athletes to receive this honor. In order to be eligible, players must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and be a significant enough contributor that they were at least nominated for All-Conference selection.

Cocks, who also played in the USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game last Friday at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland, garnered USILA Honorable Mention All-America and All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) first team accolades this season to cap his collegiate career.

As a senior in 2019, Cocks won 293-of-447 faceoffs for a .655 percentage that led the conference and ranked 24th in NCAA Division III. He also ranked 18th nationally with 9.20 ground balls per game (184 total ground balls) and recorded a career-high 12 points with seven goals and five assists.

Over the course of his four-year career, Cocks appeared in 60 games, winning 684 faceoffs in 1,080 attempts (.633). He compiled 421 ground balls and finished with 33 points on 20 goals and 13 assists. Cocks was a member of three CCC championship teams, winning back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.

Cocks graduated from Western New England with a mechanical engineering degree earlier this month.
