Golden Bears Drop Games to New Paltz & Bowdoin

CLERMONT, Fla. (March 19, 2019) – The Western New England University softball team dropped games to SUNY New Paltz and Bowdoin College on Tuesday at the Legends Way Fields. The Golden Bears were edged 2-0 by New Paltz in the opener, before falling to Bowdoin, 9-0.

Sophomore infielder Emily Cooney (Berlin, Conn.) accounted for both of Western New England's hits in against the Hawks, while junior pitcher Aimee Kistner (Taunton, Mass.) struck out five batters and surrendered two earned runs on five hits over seven innings in the circle.

New Paltz sophomore pitcher Emily Fox (Commack, N.Y.) stifled the Golden Bear offense, striking out six batters and giving up just the two hits to Cooney over a complete game shutout performance.

Senior Shannon Fee (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and drove in the only two runs of the contest in the sixth inning.
