Dina DiBlasio Named CCC Rookie of the Week
Norwalk, Conn. native hit .429 with a double, a home run and 9 RBI last week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 29, 2019) – Freshman Dina DiBlasio (Norwalk, Conn.) of the Western New England University softball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
DiBlasio batted a team-best .429 (9-for-21) with a double, a home run and nine RBI in a 3-3 week for the Golden Bears. She posted four multi-hit performances and went a combined 5-for-6 with a double, a homer and seven RBI in Western New England's non-conference sweep of Westfield State on Thursday. DiBlasio also had two hits in the second game of the Golden Bears' doubleheader split at Gordon on Saturday.
DiBlasio has made significant contributions during her freshman campaign, appearing in 32 of 36 contests and batting .302 (32-for-106) with nine doubles, five home runs and 29 RBI.
Western New England (21-15, 9-7 CCC) hosts Eastern Connecticut in its regular season finale on Tuesday at 3 p.m., before opening the CCC Tournament on Thursday against Nichols at the University of New England.
